This report was developed by baukreisel as part of the Experimental Fellowship with Bauhaus Earth. The three-part publication series explores: "why concrete matters", "why reuse matters", and now—how to "make concrete reuse matter through low-tech, product-based strategies". The research project investigated the possibilities of scaling up the reuse of deconstructed primary concrete elements in building transformation and new developments, while reflecting on existing research references, practitioners, and projects.

The first publication addressed research on the necessity and challenges of preserving existing structures, the second considered the potential of product-based reuse of concrete, the latest report completes the development and real-world implementation of the REMIX and REMODULE strategies. Focussing on product-based reuse, both approaches are based on the different states of the material during selective deconstruction, demolition or at the recycling yard. The aim is to transfer these elements into sustainable new construction in the form of building products and value chains.
