This new open-access platform pairs soil research with its ecological and cultural contexts, extending the work of Situated Regionalism beyond the Fellowship.

Developed by Fellows Hà Nguyễn and Hojung Kim as an outcome of their Experimental Fellowship with Bauhaus Earth, the Vietnam Soil Atlas gathers the fieldwork, soil samples, laboratory testing, and local knowledge collected over the course of the project.

The Atlas layers technical soil data with the socio-cultural and ecological conditions of each site, so that a soil’s properties can be read alongside the building traditions of its context. Conceived as an open-access framework for community use, it enables the research to continue beyond the Fellowship, supporting regenerative earthen construction in Vietnam, with methods that can be adapted to other regional contexts.
